Volo Aero MRO is an FAA repair station. The team put AI to work on the most repetitive job in the front office: turning a customer's repair paperwork into an order.

Here is how Andrew Walmsley, President of Volo Aero MRO, described it.

"15 minutes to 3 minutes: That's how much faster we will now process a typical three-line repair order at Volo Aero MRO, thanks to AI integrated into our Tangle.io ERP system."

What the system reads from each PDF

"From a single PDF, the system extracts:

  • Customer-specific instructions, including 8130-3 Block 12 remarks
  • Part numbers and serial numbers
  • Time and cycle data
  • Last operator and ESN information
  • Certification type

It then builds the order automatically, with a separate sales line for each part. The results: an 80% reduction in order entry time, fewer data entry errors, and customer requirements captured correctly from the start."

What doesn’t change

"What doesn't change: every repair, inspection, and return-to-service decision is still made by qualified people under our FAA repair station standards."

What comes next

"The bigger lesson: AI isn't just for large companies. Small businesses can start with one repetitive, error-prone task and see real results fast. After this we plan on rolling out this application into our shelf life and inventory areas as well."
